Prof. Buyinza Mukadasi - University Academic Registrar

The Academic Registrar is the chief coordinator of all matters pertaining to the academic organization of the University: examinations, research, postgraduate studies, syllabuses and is always the Secretary to Senate and its committees. The Academic Registrar oversees admissions & records, examinations as well as staff development and ceremonies.

Prof. Buyinza Mukadasiis a Professor of Forestry Resource Economics and holds a PhD degree in Forest Management from Gadjah Mada University, Indonesia. He has over 25 years of university research and teaching experience in the fields of Forestry and Natural Resource Economics. He has grown through the university service to the rank of Full Professor (Oct. 2010) at Makerere University. He has successfully supervised over 100 MSc, 10 PhD students and served as an academic mentor to 15 Postdoctoral fellows in the fields of forestry, environment, and natural resources management.

He has published widely in the fields of Forestry Economics, Community-based natural resource management and Research Administration. He has authored eight books; ten book chapters, more than 150 publications in International peer-reviewed; more than 100 conference proceedings as an organizer or presenter.

Departments under the Academic Registrar's Office

The Academic Registrar’s Office is comprised of six departments each headed by an Assistant Academic Registrar as laid down below;

Senate Division

The Senate is the chief academic organ of the university. The Office oversees academic governance, curriculum development, policy formulation, quality assurance, student appeals and grievances, records management, and faculty support within a university. It ensures the integrity of academic programs, adherence to policies, and support for both students and faculty members in academic matters.

Undergraduate Admissions and Records Division

This department is responsible for managing undergraduate admissions, maintaining accurate student records, providing enrollment services, implementing university policies, offering support to students, and analyzing data related to admissions and records. Their functions ensure effective administration of admissions processes, support for enrolled students, and compliance with academic standards and regulations.

Exams and Transcript Division

The Exams and Transcript Division various essential functions including exam scheduling, administration, transcript management, results processing, graduation clearance, degree certification, record keeping, student support, policy implementation, and collaboration with other university departments. They ensure the integrity of exams, maintain accurate academic records, and support students throughout their academic journey.

Certificates and Ceremonies

The Certificates and Ceremonies division at oversees the issuance of official certificates and diplomas, organizes graduation ceremonies, manages logistics and protocol for these events, verifies certificates, maintains records, prints diplomas, engages with alumni, implements policies, and collaborates with other university departments. Their role is essential in recognizing academic achievements, ensuring the integrity of credentials, and fostering alumni relations.

ICT Division

The ICT Division manages technology infrastructure, student information systems, examination platforms, e-learning tools, and provides technical support at Makerere University. They ensure data security, offer training, develop policies, integrate ICT into academic processes, and contribute to strategic planning for enhancing teaching, learning, and research.
